Part of the super-hero genre is the "secret identity", and CF is no exception. Watching the hero try to balance fighting crime with keeping a job is, for some reason, endlessly entertaining. Perhaps it's because we all feel, in a way, that we do the same thing. Trying to hold down a job, maintain relationships, keep up on current events, and pursue one's own hobbies can by themselves make a life hectic. One can really identify with Giome's difficulties trying to balance all of that with a magic helmet and a divine calling.
